Based in our Columbia, MD facility, the Systems Technical Support Engineer provides customer-facing technical and application support and is often the first point of contact for users of Rohde & Schwarz EMC and OTA test solutions. As the first line of the system support, the Technical Support Engineer is crucial to company success. During the pre-sales process, the TSE interfaces with customers to understand their requirements and coordinates with the field sales and system specialists to recommend a suitable Rohde & Schwarz solution. During, post-sales process, the TSE shares technical expertise with the end user and assists in troubleshooting unexpected system behavior. The TSE works closely with the field EMC and OTA systems engineers to provide customers a quick and effective resolution while maintaining an unwavering commitment to follow-through and customer satisfaction.

Technical Support Engineer - Systems

Your tasks:
  • Pre-sales technical product and application support for internal and external customers
  • Understand customer’s systems requirements and map them to a Rohde & Schwarz solution
  • Refer sales opportunities to direct sales team per company processes
  • Coordinate complex demonstrations with field applications engineers and other subject matter experts
  • Post-sales technical product and application support for internal and external customers
  • Provide both hardware and software support for EMC, OTA, and Broadband Amplifiers test systems to meet customer challenges
  • Work with field systems engineer to reach a resolution in a timely manner
  • Document and report unexpected behavior (bug) to product line
  • Document and deliver incident reports to relevant sales, service and product management team members
Your qualifications:
  • Familiar with EMC and OTA standards (CISPR, FCC, MIL-STD, CTIA etc.)
  • Familiar with EMC and OTA terminologies (EMI, EMS, TRP, TIS etc.)
  • Knowledge of common Wireless standards (LTE, WLAN, WCDMA, CDMA, GSM etc.)
  • Ability to utilize root-cause analysis for troubleshooting complex systems
  • Ability to read, understand and create test automation code/routines
  • Ability and desire to acquire, retain and share technical knowledge
  • Adept at operating in a complex, technical, fast-paced team environment
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 20%, including occasional trips to our Munich headquarters
  • BSEE (or equivalent)
  • 2+ years’ experience in design, application or system engineering role
